Event Description

Making Your Horse Happy and Athletic During a Session

Who hasn't dreamed of reading what's going on in their horse's head? I'm talking, of course, about its mind and emotions.

While we are increasingly focusing on the psychology and mental state of human athletes, we are far from that when it comes to horses.

How to deal with tension, stress, and fear in any situation?

How can I make my horse enjoy my training sessions? How can I tell if I'm stressing my horse out myself, if I'm confusing him, and what should I do if that happens?

Today, it's possible to address your horse's opinions and emotions through a truly innovative equine psychology program. Sarah Fricoteaux travels to Lentilly to CA Ranch and offers you the opportunity to get answers to a multitude of questions you may have about your horses' behavior.

Here's what you'll learn to do over the course of a whole weekend, both on the ground and in the saddle:

Read your horse with such precision that you will understand its every thought, opinion, and emotion. Once the mental and emotional aspects are addressed, we will then develop technique and biomechanics for healthy and sustainable riding for your horse.

Learn how to “Integrate Psychology into your Riding”

ABOUT THE HAPPY HORSE INTERNSHIP AND PROGRAM

The course begins each day at 8:30 am with a welcome in the clubhouse with tea, coffee, and pastries. The teaching then starts at 9:00 am with theory and practical simulations. We will discuss the different profiles, personalities, and energies found in horses. I will then ask you about any current challenges or stagnation you are experiencing with your horse, and you will learn how to identify the root cause of these issues. I will teach you which body language points to focus on first, their meaning, and how we then transform confusion, misunderstandings, and everyday micro-problems into lasting and effective solutions using the Happy Horse program, developed by Linda Parelli since 2021. If there are no issues with grooming, fetching your horse, or any other handling, then we will meet in the arena for groundwork with the horses in the morning.

Lunch break from 12:30 to 13:45.

The first morning will be dedicated to groundwork: please bring a rope halter, a 3.7m round rope, a carrot stick, and a lead rope (if you don't have any of these, please let us know in the comments section when finalizing your registration, and Sarah can lend you this equipment during the clinic). We will review your daily warm-up routine, giving you the go-ahead to be in the saddle safely and with a horse whose body is ready to work effectively. We can, of course, address any issues with horses that move around at the mounting block, don't know how to come to you, or don't stand still in the saddle, etc. Please bring your usual riding equipment. My goal is to help you become independent in planning and organizing your sessions effectively, so you can achieve your personal goals.

On the second day, a Q&A session is planned, covering the practices discussed the previous day, as well as open questions about horses. We will continue our journey through the program, this time focusing on developing "greater finesse and quality" in your communication. How much a horse would love to be ridden by you, to feel understood and heard, to achieve ever greater serenity in what we do with our horses—for you, of course, but especially for them! Let's delve deeper and explore together the areas where you've been stuck for months, even years. It's time to solidify this new level of skill, so you can develop it independently at home.

With this course, you'll be able to take photos of all the theory sheets, you'll receive a progress booklet outlining the program structure to guide your reading on equine psychology and behavior, as well as a personalized plan to continue your studies at home. This isn't a course where you'll spend your time doing flexions and hip pivots. You've certainly done plenty of those; let's focus on the finer points and psychology integrated into your level and the equestrian skills you already possess.

WHO IS THIS INTERNSHIP FOR?

  • Does your horse often lose focus? Is he uninterested? Does he have better things to do? Does he lack motivation?
  • Do you have to beg your horse with treats or constantly make compromises?
  • Is your horse exhibiting inappropriate or persistent behaviors that you haven't been able to change?
  • Does your horse have bad ears, an ugly face, and a whole host of other undesirable behaviors?
  • You already know how to do a lot of cool things together, but you're missing that spark, that extra something, and you want to reach a new level of conversation?

WELCOME! THIS INTERNSHIP IS FOR YOU!!

ABOUT THE HAPPY HORSE PROGRAM

This is the missing link in equine psychology education programs. Created in 2021, following many years of research, experimentation, and handling of the most advanced and extreme horses worldwide, Linda Parelli has completely redesigned and incorporated her latest knowledge to provide professionals with the expertise to understand their horse in every moment spent together. Regardless of your discipline or level of expertise, this new program offers you the keys to understanding your horse's behavior and psychology to solve problems, achieve your goals, and have a partner who is both happy and high-performing. A structured program, rich in detail, giving meaning to every strategy employed, for a much stronger relationship with your horse.

The Happy Horse program is a conversation!

Learn to communicate, and then you will choose which story (namely which discipline - Freedom - Jumping - Dressage - Outdoors - Etc.)

you will want to share with your horse.

A 3-tiered program:

BASIC BEHAVIORS (Connection, Relaxation, Response),

CONVERSATION QUALITY (Confidence, Impulse, Flexibility),

And PERFORMANCE DEVELOPMENT (Harmony, Agility, Purpose, Power).
