Demonstration: Connecting freely and the first mounting block for Liares

Liares has just turned three, and even though he's physically strong and well-developed for several months now, we're only at the mounting stage for the first time, and I thought you might enjoy sharing this moment with me. Come and make yourself comfortable around the lunge ring and let me guide you.

This event will take place both in person and will also be available online afterwards, as it will be recorded. Some information about starting young horses at Equideo:

The early training of a young horse consists of 4 major learning stages:

1. Accepting the human being as a trusted friend
2. Accept the saddle
3. Accept the rider as a partner to follow
4. Accept the net and let yourself be guided

Accepting humans is a matter of relationship: both trust and respect. Depending on the horse's personality, it may have complete trust in humans but resist as soon as they are asked to do something; just as a horse may be an extremely good student but freeze in fear, filled with tension as soon as the human acts because there is no trust. During this demonstration, you will see how to balance these two aspects during the initial mounting sessions with the rider.

Liares learned to girth using a long rope, then to wear a bareback pad, then to jump while feeling the girth of the bareback pad, and finally to ride in a standard saddle. You can find all these very interesting steps in the online training.

Some practical information:

The workshop starts at 6:30pm and finishes around 8pm. Please arrive early enough to get settled.

• Parking is available in the car park above the quarry.
• Dry toilets are available on site
• Wooden benches are arranged all around the raised lunge ring for a good view during the demonstration. The demonstration will be conducted with a headset microphone so everyone can hear clearly. You are welcome to bring your own chair for added comfort.
• We love dogs, but they will not be allowed on site during the demonstration, thank you for your understanding.
• A potluck-style aperitif and meal will follow the demonstration. Everyone is welcome to bring a small dish to share. Aperitifs will be provided. A microwave is available in the barn if you wish to heat something up.
