10 Tips on Positioning and Functioning of the Good Rider

Conference held at the Health Forum of the Bordeaux International Jumping 2026

Why do some riders seem to be instantly understood by their horses? It's not a question of strength, but of awareness and precision. This workshop will help you refine your awareness in the saddle and transform the impact you have on your horse, to apply as soon as you return to the stable. We are often unaware of our impact, or how much we can emotionally affect our horses through our actions, our position, and our lack of clarity in our expectations.

I learned to be a perfect rider at a traditional riding school. And I think I wasn't doing too badly, as I was successful in eventing and then in TREC. However, if I had learned even just these 10 tips back then, my horses would have been much happier to experience all those moments with me, rather than simply obeying and being led, even with the best intentions in the world to do what was right for them.

Until someone tells you, and you experience it yourself, you have no idea what your horse is feeling.

I invite you to experience these 10 lessons that can be practiced at home, in simulation.

Not only will your horse's behavior improve, but technical exercises will become easier, and your horse will magically exhibit less physical resistance.

This isn't magic, it's self-awareness, visualization, and proprioception of sensations! The ball is in your court!
